Water Rains Floods

Introduction:

Between May 2010 and January 2011, I traveled by bicycle through Senegal, Mali and Burkina Faso. My overall plan was to document the agricultural activities that take place during the period of “hivernage.” It was during the rainy season, which is vital for the Sahel and the tropics, that I crossed the region. For many observers this season was not typical because it was late. In fact all three countries had to wait until the end of July for the rains to really get started, forcing some farmers to replant several times, and the rains lasted until the end of October.

On the net I found : “According to a study published by the British journal Nature, the link between global warming and torrential rain and flooding has been scientifically established by researchers at Environment Canada. Human activity has a direct influence on rainfall.” *

These images, taken step by step throughout the season, when taken together document this very alarming problem.
